Our Approach
We start with your goals, strengths and resources. Evidence-based care, shaped around your life.
Arrange a Free ConsultationYour Goals Come First
You may want to change substance use, understand your mental health or support someone you love. We begin by listening to what you want, the strengths you already have and the resources you can draw on.
You might begin by saying, ‘I can't stop worrying,’ or ‘I am unhappy with my life.’ You might want to understand substance use while continuing to manage work and relationships. We work best with people ready to do the work and open to change, including high-functioning professionals. Your own description gives us somewhere specific to begin.
Evidence-Based, Not One-Size-Fits-All
Evidence-based care uses approaches informed by research. Individualized care means those approaches are considered alongside your goals, preferences and circumstances. We make room for both science and your experience.
We approach our work with clients by first identifying their goals, strengths and resources and help them to develop action plans that are evidence-based, measurable and flexible. A goal gives the work a direction. Your strengths and resources help us consider what you can draw on. A flexible plan leaves room to discuss what matters as circumstances change.
From a Concern to a Plan
Describe the Concern
Bring an example from your life. It could involve substance use, worry or a relationship. We listen for what you want to understand or change.
Identify What Helps
Tell us about strengths you already use. Consider the people and resources you can turn to. We include those supports in the conversation.
Discuss Your Direction
Ask which service fits your priorities. Counseling, coaching and medication management have different roles. We can talk through those differences with you.

What Recovery-Oriented Care Means
Recovery-oriented care looks beyond a single concern to the life you want to build. Counseling, therapy, medication management and coaching can support different needs. We work with you to discuss which kind of care makes sense, without judgment.
Choosing care also means considering how it fits into your week. You can discuss an office appointment in Cheshire or West Hartford, in-home sessions or Connecticut telehealth. Tell us about insurance questions and your language preference. These practical details belong alongside the concerns you want to address.
