Substance Use and Addiction Counseling
A non-judgmental place to talk honestly about substance use and what you want to change.
Arrange a Free ConsultationStart With What You Want to Change
Substance use can affect relationships, work, health and everyday life. You do not need to have every answer before asking for support. We begin with your concerns and your goals, not a label.
You might be thinking about a recent conversation with someone close to you, a pattern you keep returning to, or the effort it takes to get through the week. In counseling, those details matter more than finding the right words to describe yourself. You can begin with one concern and explain how substance use is affecting the parts of life you want us to understand.
What a First Session Looks Like
Describe Your Concerns
Tell us what led you to counseling and what substance use looks like in your life now. You can discuss work, relationships, health or a specific experience. Start with what you want your provider to understand.
Name Your Priorities
We ask about your goals, strengths and resources. What would you like to be different? Who or what already helps? These questions give the conversation a direction while leaving room for concerns you may not have known how to describe before the appointment.
Discuss the Support
Talk with your provider about counseling and questions about therapy or recovery coaching. You can ask how the work fits your priorities and what the next appointment might focus on.
Your Recovery Can Look Like Yours
There are many pathways of recovery and all are worthy of celebration. Our counseling is individualized and evidence-based, with respect for your strengths, resources and the changes you are ready to consider.
A session can include talking about when substance use comes up, what is happening around it and how you feel afterward. We consider the support you already have as well as the parts that feel difficult to change. We ask what you want counseling to address and use that conversation to shape the work.

Room for the Whole Picture
Substance use and mental health concerns can occur together. We can discuss counseling alongside therapy, psychiatric medication management or recovery coaching, depending on your needs. Care is available in person, in home and through telehealth in Connecticut.
Our offices are in Cheshire and West Hartford. If travel is a concern, ask about in-home appointments or telehealth while you are located in Connecticut. During the free consultation, bring questions about insurance and provider availability. We are in network with several plans and offer superbills for out-of-network care. Contact us for current rates and coverage for the service you are considering.
