Prepare for the First Conversation

What Happens in a Free 15-Minute Consultation

What to have ready for a free CTACC consultation, including provider choices, setting preferences and insurance questions.

Arrange a Free Consultation

Bring the Question You Have Now

A free 15-minute consultation is a starting conversation about the care you are considering. You can describe why you reached out and ask about services or a provider match. A short account of what concerns you is enough.

You might be asking about substance use, mental health, a relationship or recovery goals in daily life. You do not need to prepare a full history or settle every question first. Think about what you most want to understand before choosing a next step.

Ask About the Practical Details

Have your insurance plan name ready if you want to discuss coverage, along with questions about payment for the service you are considering. CTACC is in network with several plans and can provide superbills for out-of-network care. Contact us for current rates.

Recovery counseling is self-pay only because insurance does not pay for non-diagnostic care. You can also ask about office appointments, in-home sessions and telehealth while located in Connecticut. If language matters to your choice, mention your preference for English or Spanish during the conversation.

A Short List to Have Ready

Your Main Concern

Choose the concern you want to mention first. A sentence about what has been happening can give the conversation a focus. You can explain that you are unsure which service fits.

Your Preferences

Note the setting you are considering and any language preference. If a particular provider interests you, keep their name handy. You can still ask for help comparing options.

Your Questions

Write down a question about coverage, rates or the focus of care. Ask about appointment availability directly. You can use the conversation to clarify practical details before arranging ongoing sessions.
