Many Pathways of Recovery
Explore different forms of recovery support without ranking pathways, from counseling and therapy to practical coaching.
Arrange a Free ConsultationRecovery Can Look Different
Recovery can mean different things to different people. One person may begin by talking about substance use, while another is focused on relationships or a daily routine they want to change. Those priorities deserve to be heard in the person’s own words.
There are many pathways of recovery and all are worthy of celebration. Respecting that belief means listening before deciding what support should look like. You can explain what matters to you without comparing your choices with someone else’s.
Support Has Different Roles
Different forms of support address different questions. Counseling can provide a clinical conversation about substance use, and therapy can address mental health concerns as well. Recovery and wellness coaching offers practical, goal-focused support in everyday life and is not clinical treatment. Couples and family sessions make room for shared concerns.
These roles can be considered separately or together. The question is which kind of conversation fits your priorities, not which pathway deserves more credit. You can ask what a service involves before choosing it.

Explore Support at CTACC
CTACC brings counselors, therapists, a psychiatric nurse practitioner and coaches into one practice. We offer substance use counseling, mental health therapy, recovery counseling, coaching and psychiatric medication management. Recovery counseling is non-diagnostic and self-pay only because insurance does not pay for non-diagnostic care.
Our Cheshire and West Hartford offices, in-home sessions and Connecticut telehealth provide settings to discuss. The service links below can help you compare options. Tell us your goals, strengths and resources so we can talk about the support you are considering.
Make Room for Your Own Priorities
Name What Matters
Describe what you want support to address now. That may be different from what mattered during an earlier period of your life. Your current priorities belong in the conversation.
Ask About the Work
A provider can explain the focus of sessions and the role they offer. Ask how your goals would shape that work. You can also ask how another service differs.
Leave Room for Questions
Choosing support does not require having a complete plan. You can discuss an option, think about it and bring another question. Your preferences deserve attention alongside the concern itself.
Questions About Recovery Pathways
Can I Consider More Than One Service?
Yes. Coaching and therapy have different roles, and both are options. Ask what each would focus on for your concerns.
What if My Priorities Change?
Tell your provider what has changed. A conversation about goals can include new concerns, different resources and questions about the focus of support.
