My name is Christopher (Chris) Zahor and I am a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor; I have worked in the field of substance use and mental health care for the last nine years. I obtained my Master of Science in Addiction Studies from Western Connecticut State University. Through years of clinical practice, I have worked and trained in various levels of care and among various disciplines ranging from inpatient, outpatient, community support, and Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT). I have developed knowledge and experience in helping individuals seeking treatment toward their own recovery.

My approach to therapy prioritizes person centered treatment and aims to build a strong therapeutic relationship that promotes a comfortable and safe environment. Often addiction and mental health challenges can feel overwhelming and sometimes self-defeating. Being able to identify one’s strengths they possess as well as find ways of developing a more positive outlook can help challenge negative self-talk. Promoting one’s ability to identify symptoms and awareness toward problematic behaviors and/or thoughts help in combating the challenges in managing one’s addiction and mental health toward recovery.

My belief in therapy is that one is most successful when self-driven, which may include healing from trauma, addressing challenges related to substance use or reducing debilitating mental health symptoms. I have experience with working with those struggling with substance use and mental health, as well as co-occurring symptoms. I also have training in Seeking Safety for individuals looking to address trauma and substance use. My goal for anyone would be to find confidence and abilities to make life more fulfulling.
